Number to Words Converter
Write any number out in words — perfect for filling in checks, legal documents and invoices. Cents are written as a fraction over 100.
How to use the Number to Words Converter
- Type the number, with up to two decimal places for cents.
- Read the number in words.
- Copy the check-writing format.
How it works
Numbers are written in groups of three digits — ones, thousands, millions, billions and trillions. Each group is written as hundreds, tens and ones, with hyphens for compound numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine. On a US check, write the dollar amount in words followed by the cents over 100, for example “Two hundred fifty and 75/100”, and draw a line through the empty space to prevent changes.
