Pressure Converter (atm, mmHg, kPa)
Convert a pressure between all the common units at once — atmospheres, millimeters of mercury, kilopascals, psi, bar, inches of mercury and pascals.
How to use the Pressure Converter (atm, mmHg, kPa)
- Enter the pressure value.
- Choose the unit it is in.
- Read the value in every other unit.
How it works
All units are converted through pascals (Pa), the SI unit of pressure. Key definitions: 1 atm = 101,325 Pa = 760 mmHg = 29.92 inHg = 14.696 psi = 1.01325 bar. mmHg and torr differ by less than one part in seven million, so they are interchangeable in practice. Blood pressure is measured in mmHg, weather pressure in hPa (millibars) or inHg, and tire pressure in psi or bar.
Pressure reference points
| Situation | kPa | psi | mmHg |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sea-level air | 101.3 | 14.7 | 760 |
| Denver air (1,600 m) | 83.4 | 12.1 | 626 |
| Car tire (gauge) | 220 | 31.9 | 1,650 |
| Normal blood pressure (systolic) | 16 | 2.3 | 120 |
| Bicycle tire (gauge) | 550 | 79.8 | 4,125 |
Frequently asked questions
How many kPa is 1 atm?
101.325 kPa.
How many mmHg are in 1 atm?
760 mmHg.
What is 1 bar in psi?
About 14.5 psi.
Is mmHg the same as torr?
Almost exactly — 1 torr = 1/760 atm, and 1 mmHg ≈ 1.00000014 torr.
