Screen Resolution Converter
Compare screen resolutions and calculate total pixels, aspect ratio and pixel density (PPI) for any screen size.
How to use the Screen Resolution Converter
- Choose a resolution or enter a custom one.
- Enter the screen diagonal for pixel density.
- Read the megapixels, aspect ratio and PPI.
How it works
Resolution is the number of pixels across and down. Pixel density (PPI) = √(width² + height²) ÷ diagonal. A 27″ 1440p monitor has about 109 PPI, while a 27″ 4K monitor has about 163 PPI — noticeably sharper text. 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) has four times the pixels of 1080p.
Common resolutions
| Name | Pixels | Megapixels |
|---|---|---|
| 720p HD | 1280 × 720 | 0.92 |
| 1080p Full HD | 1920 × 1080 | 2.07 |
| 1440p QHD | 2560 × 1440 | 3.69 |
| 4K UHD | 3840 × 2160 | 8.29 |
| 8K UHD | 7680 × 4320 | 33.18 |
