Watts measure power use, lumens measure brightness. Efficacy varies by product — check the lumens on the bulb box.

How bright is a 60-watt bulb, and which LED matches it? Convert watts to lumens for each bulb type.

How to use the Watts to Lumens Converter

  1. Enter the bulb wattage.
  2. Choose the bulb type.
  3. Read the lumens and equivalent wattage for other bulb types.

How it works

Lumens = watts × luminous efficacy. Incandescent bulbs give about 15 lumens per watt, halogens about 18, CFLs about 60 and LEDs about 90. A traditional 60 W incandescent produces about 800 lumens, so an LED of only 8–9 W gives the same light.
