How it works
Decimal degrees = degrees + minutes/60 + seconds/3600. South latitudes and west longitudes are negative. To convert back, the whole number is the degrees; multiply the remainder by 60 for minutes, and the new remainder by 60 for seconds. Latitude runs from −90 to 90 and longitude from −180 to 180. Six decimal places locate a point to about 11 cm.
