How it works
US drill bits come in fractional sizes (1/64″ steps), letter sizes A–Z (0.234″ to 0.413″) and number sizes (#80 to #1, for small holes); metric bits are in 0.1–0.5 mm steps. Tap drill charts often specify letter or number bits because they fall between fractional sizes. Letter sizes here follow the standard ANSI table.
